今年，西部陆海新通道班列外贸货源持续增长，澳大利亚的锂辉石、东南亚的橡胶等货物增长迅猛，甘肃的洋葱、西藏的牦牛肉干和广西的食糖、汽配、板材等优势产业产品也加速出海。进入四季度，国铁南宁局进一步推广物流总包服务，为客户量身定制装车、运输、信息服务、空箱回送等全程物流方案，吸引了巴西的大豆、印尼的煤炭等货源，推动新通道班列仅用27天就完成10万标箱货物运输，比前一个10万标箱缩短13天。数据显示，四季度以来新通道班列日均运输货物达3205标箱，较今年前三个季度日均增加862箱、增幅36.8%。
